How to Connect
Check your user role
The WordPress user you connect must have the Administrator or Editor role. Subscribers and Contributors cannot publish posts. Check in WordPress → Users.
Generate Application Password
In your WordPress admin, go to Users → Your Profile → Application Passwords. Create a new password named "Cited". Important: This generates a NEW password — do not use your regular WordPress login password. The generated password looks like: abcd EFGH 1234 ijkl MNOP 5678.
Enter your site URL
Provide your WordPress site URL (e.g., https://yourblog.com), your WordPress username, and the application password you generated.
Configure publishing settings
Choose your default category, post status (draft/publish), and enable auto-publish if desired.
Requirements
- WordPress 5.6 or higher
- User account with Administrator or Editor role
- REST API enabled (enabled by default)
- Application Passwords feature (WordPress 5.6+)
- HTTPS recommended for security
Style Your Blog
One-time setup to make your published articles look polished and professional.
Use a readable theme
Choose a theme with a clean blog layout. The content area should be 680–720px wide for comfortable reading.
Style your headings
In Appearance → Customize (or your theme settings), set H2 to 24–28px bold and H3 to 20–22px semi-bold with spacing above and below.
Set body typography
Set body text to 16–18px with 1.6–1.75 line height. Sans-serif fonts like Inter, Open Sans, or your brand font work best.
Check link visibility
Ensure links have a distinct color (blue or your brand color) and underline so readers can identify them easily.
Set featured image sizes
In Settings → Media, set a consistent featured image size. Use full-width images (1200px wide) with a 16:9 or 3:2 ratio.
